Professor Young Bin Park, Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, UNIST, has recently received the Fist Prize from the Korean Society for Composite Materials(KSCM) in Kongju University on Oct 23 on the occasion of the 2009 autumn conference of KSCM.
The award recognizes an individual who is regarded as publishing significant research papers and marked by outstanding performance, demonstrated effective leadership, and prolonged commitment to KSCM. In Particular, one of his representative research papers, under the title of " Smart structural Health Monitoring Using Carbon Nanotube Polymer Composites" was awarded in this conference.
Prof. Park obtained his bachelor's and master's degree from Seoul National University, doctorate from Georgia Tech in USA. He was selected as UNIST professor in recognition of his outstanding performance through teaching, research, practice and such activities of today.
Professor Park is a Fellow of KSCM. KSCM, established in 1988, is the largest professional society for mechanical engineers and researchers with over 900 members. It provides spring/autumn conference, workshop, seminar as well as the publication of an international official journal named "Advanced Composite Materials" with the Japan Society for composite materials. Prof. Lee Dae Gill(Dep. Mechanical Engineering, Kaist) serves as the chairman of the society since 2009.
